Many of the researchers in the Centre are available to supervise research higher degree students who are enrolled through one of the university's schools. In this way, the Centre is central in maintaining the research strength of cultural and media studies across the faculty, and in developing the academic and intellectual skills of a large cohort of postgraduates.

It does this through its lecture and seminar series, its support of initiatives such as the monthly MACS (Media and Cultural Studies) get-togethers, various reading groups, and through its formal supervision relationships with students.
